The Top 5 Most Tropical Florida Beaches

All Florida beaches are great but tropical Florida beaches are even better. If you’re in search of beautiful water and lots of coconut palm trees, these are the best ones the State has to offer.

LOGGERHEAD KEY

Despite its difficulty getting to, Loggerhead Key is by far the best tropical beach in all of Florida. Located in the Dry Tortugas National Park and only accessible by boat, this is the only beach where you feel like you are truly in the middle of the Caribbean. Crystal-clear water, a beautiful coral reef, white sand, and the iconic lighthouse all make this place extra special. The best beaches for swimming and relaxing are located at the eastern and southwestern parts of the island. The best way to enjoy Loggerhead Key is to stay on a big boat and use the tender to visit the island.

SANDSPUR BEACH (BAHIA HONDA STATE PARK)

Despite being ravaged by Hurricane Irma in 2017 and losing much of its tropical foliage, Sandspur Beach remains the second most tropical beach in Florida. This beach is beautiful due to its’ clear water with electric tropical colors and beautiful sand. Finding a nice sandy beach in The Florida Keys is uncommon unless you have a boat. Most of them consist of rocky shorelines. That’s one of the main reasons why Sandspur Beach is so appealing.

PEANUT ISLAND

Located on the inside of the Palm Beach Inlet is a tropical oasis that is only available by private boat or ferry. Peanut Island is a historic island that has one of the best coconut tree backdrops in the entire State. This, coupled with some of the clearest water in all of Florida make Peanut Island an amazing place to spend the day. Also, it’s an excellent place to snorkel and picnic and has one of the most popular boating sandbars on the East Coast of Florida.

FT. LAUDERDALE BEACH

When one initially thinks of Ft. Lauderdale, they might think of coastal high rises and high traffic, the complete opposite of a tropical beach. However, it’s not so. The public beach located along Hugh Taylor Birch Park is beautiful and super tropical. Not only does Ft. Lauderdale have beautiful, tropical water but it also has lots of tall coconut palm trees lining its’ sandy beach. The backdrop of the park and its’ natural foliage makes this stretch of Ft. Lauderdale one of the best tropical beaches in all of Florida.

NORTH CAPTIVA ISLAND

Another amazing place and probably the most fun place to visit on this list is North Captiva Island. Only accessible by boat, North Captiva Island is a resort island located north of Sanibel and Captiva. The island has many beautiful private homes as well as a few restaurants and a vacation Resort. Also, the island has its own private runway for airplanes. North Captiva is loaded with tropical plants and coconut palm trees and the water that surrounds it is incredibly tropical and clear.

I utilize the service and benefits of Boat U.S.  They are a great organization that every boater should consider. You should too.  Click HERE to learn more.
